Ève Chartrand is a visual artist based in Moncton, New Brunswick. Her practice explores the ambiguous relationship between humans and nature through drawing, paper cutting, and the layering of translucent Japanese washi paper. Inspired by domestic decorative patterns, her works incorporate recurring symbols drawn from the natural world and human-made structures in order to examine notions of fascination, fear, and control. The transparency of the paper and the integration of light play a central role in her practice, creating shifting images where fragility and tension coexist. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts from Concordia University, with a minor in Print Media, and has exhibited her work in several group exhibitions in Montréal.
